Spinal Stenosis occurs when the spinal cage starts to become narrow due to several factors. These include excessive bone growth, herniated disc, thickening cartilage, and ligaments in the canal. The narrowing of the spine canal often aggravates the spinal cords and nerve roots at the points where they push out from the cord.
Degeneration of tissues occurs as the human body ages, hence the ailment occurs mostly in individuals above the age of 50. Generally, spinal stenosis affects the cervical (neck) and lumbar spine (lower back) with symptoms including numbness, pain, and weakness in the legs, feet, and buttocks.
