
Sciatica is one of the pronounced symptoms of herniated disc within the lower back of the human body because the disc applies pressure on the sciatic nerve. Caused by a herniated disc in the lower back, other symptoms include numbness and pain of the buttocks that extends down to the leg. Pains caused by sciatica mostly happen on one side of the body and gets worse after the individual gets up from a sitting position, sneezes, laughs, coughs, stands, or bends backward. Also, the pain is mostly predominant at night.
